We are pleased to invite you to the XIth European Conference on Developmental Psychology in Milano, Italy, August 27-31, 2003.

Located in the Northern Italy, Milano is the second largest city in the country. Milano is a fascinating city for its remarkable art treasures and chances to enjoy a rich and varied cultural life.

Located close to the "S. Ambrogio" Cathedral, the Catholic University - the conference venue - was founded in 1921 and holds many different faculties, such as Law, Political Science, Psychology and Economics. Its medical school is in Rome.

The conference will be held in the Main University Building. Social events will be held in the cloisters of the University and in downtown Milano.

The conference  aims at a broad coverage of the research activities within developmental psychology. SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

INVITATION AND ADDRESS
The Scientific Committee invites proposals for symposia, poster workshops, individual papers, individual posters and video presentation. 

All abstracts should preferably be submitted via electronic mail to the e-mail address:

a)   Attachment File - Abstracts should be attached to the e-mail message using Rich Text Format (rtf) Word 6 for Windows.
b)    ASCII Format - Abstracts should be typed or pasted directly in the message itself.

GUIDELINES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Symposia
Symposia are organized by two co-convenors and consist of 4-5 papers plus a shorter discussant paper. All symposia are allocated a time of two hours. Each presentation can last no longer than 15-20 minutes, depending on the number of papers. One of the co-convenors may be the discussant the other one functioning as the chairperson. The chair may present one of the papers. At the end of the symposium, time should be allowed for the discussant to introduce a general discussion.
Co-convenors must be from two different countries. Participants should represent at least two different countries.
One of the co-convenors should: (a) forward to symposium participants registration and abstract submission forms; (b) collect the individual abstracts, which should not exceed 200 words each; (c) send to the Scientific Committee the title and the abstract of the symposium, and (d) provide names and addresses of symposium participants as well as titles and abstracts of the symposium papers.

 

 

Poster workshops
Poster workshops are organized by two co-convenors and consist of 10-12 thematically related posters. Following a one hour display period, a one hour discussion will take place. The discussion will be coordinated by one of the two co-convenors serving as a discussant.
Co-convenors must be from two different countries.

One of the co-convenors should: (a) forward to poster workshop participants registration and abstract submission forms; (b) collect the individual abstracts, which should not exceed 200 words each; (c) send to the Scientific Committee the title and the abstract of the poster workshop, and (d) provide names and addresses of poster workshop participants as well as titles and abstracts of the poster workshop presentations.

 

 

Individual papers
Individual papers will be grouped into thematic sessions, lasting two hours. Depending on the number of papers, each participant will have 15-20 minutes to present his/her paper, including discussion.

Individual posters
Individual posters will be grouped thematically and displayed for two hours. A surface of 100 cm x 140 cm will be available for each poster. Posters should be readable from a distance of two meters. 

Important notice 1:     The name of the presenting author should be underlined in the abstract submission form.

Important notice 2:     Each participant may appear only twice as a paper or poster presenter (first author) or as a              discussant. In addition, he/she may appear  twice at the most as co-convenor.

 Submission deadline: December 1, 2002, for all types of proposals

 

OPENING CEREMONY AND WELCOME  RECEPTION
The opening ceremony will be held in the Main Hall of the University building on Wednesday, August 27, at 19.00.

 

CONFERENCE  DINNER
We invite you  to the conference banquet to be held at “Museo dei Navigli”, situated in the heart of Milano. In the halls of the "Museo dei Navigli" are on permanent exhibition archaeological finds, historical paintings and past work tools to tell us the story of the characteristics of ancient  Milano (www.museodeinavigli.com).

 This event will take place on Friday, August 29, and the cost will be Euro 55,00.

LETTER OF INVITATION
Participants who need an Invitation Letter in order to attend the conference may write to the Conference Organizing Committee specifying the necessary details. This service is designed only for participants that need to obtain a visa or permission to attend the conference. It should not be considered as an official invitation covering fees or other expenses.

The registration desk will be located in the Main Building of the University. Registration hours will be 15.00 - 20.00 on August 27.
